Press Release: COVID-19

To: DIGC Participants

We want all participants in the Dallas International Girls Cup to know that we are monitoring the Coronavirus-19 situation very closely, and following the information of the relevant national, state and local health authorities.

Thus far the information is that there are no reasons to cancel or change any aspects of the tournament. There have been no cases of Coronavirus-19 in Dallas, and travelers who came to Dallas from affected areas like China are being monitored carefully. None of the foreign teams in the tournament are from currently affected areas (and if they were, they would not be allowed to travel to the US). However, we will continue to monitor any changes to the official travel advisories. We are only considering cancelling the opening ceremonies.

We note also that all MLS games and USSF activities are proceeding as planned both in the US and overseas. But nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of our kids and their families, so we will continue to monitor the situation carefully, and will keep everyone advised of any changes in status.

Since it is the flu season anyway, we encourage you to become familiar with the World Health Organization’s suggested safety precautions which include:

• Washing your hands for 20 seconds and using alcohol based hand sanitizer • When coughing and sneezing, cover mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue – discard tissue immediately into a closed bin • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands • Stay home if you have a fever

The tournament groups are posted on our website and we will have between 148-150 teams participating. Our staff is arranging right now the game schedule which should set within the next week.

We look forward to welcoming everyone for a great tournament!

Loek van Zijl, CEO Premier International Tours and Tournament Director Paul Stewart, President Dallas Texans Soccer Club
