Ukraine will be represented at the DTIGC 2023!
We are very excited to announce that after months of fundraising we have confirmed the Ukrainian team that will be traveling to Dallas to compete in the 2023 tournament! We are very excited to welcome FC Chernomorets Odesa to the Dallas Texans International Girls Cup with the help of @roadtosport!
“FC Chornomorets Odesa is one of the oldest soccer clubs in Ukraine. It was founded in 1936 as Dynamo Odesa. The name Chornomorets was adopted in 1958. The club has finished twice as runners-up of the Ukrainian Men’s Premier Soccer League.
In 2019, coach Viacheslav Obeziuk created girls soccer team with girls then aged 10 to 12. While the team was growing and the girls developing their soccer skills, the invasion begun and disturbed their growth. Coach Obeziuk never got discouraged though:
War...This is a horror for our country! Because of the war, 70% of the girls went abroad. Despite everything, we resumed trainings in April! Constant air raids, rocket attacks - nothing will break our soccer spirit.
Despite concerns of their relatives and the unstable situation in the country, the girls courageously went to Denmark for the Dana Cup international tournament in July and returned with two cups!
The G14 team finished as runners-up in one of the biggest tournaments in the world. Now, thanks to the invitation from the organizers of the Dallas Texans International Girls Cup, they believe that their dreams of becoming professional players stay alive.”
